This role involves evaluating and preparing for interventional radiology (IR) procedures by ensuring optimized image quality, handling equipment and supplies, and assisting physicians during procedures while maintaining a supportive environment for patients and families. Additionally, it requires ongoing professional development, active participation in simulations and meetings, adherence to safety and communication protocols, and upholding core values of excellence and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
- Reviews and evaluates requisitions for interventional radiology (IR) procedures and confirms procedure details with the IR physician, ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are ready.
- Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to optimize image quality and minimize patient radiation exposure.
- Prepares procedure trays, imaging parameters, and therapeutic equipment according to physician protocols, and is responsible for patient positioning, sterile preparation, and draping.
- Assists during procedures by retrieving and handling surgical items and equipment, and may act as the physician’s second scrub as needed.
- Responds to the individual clinical condition and needs of each patient, creating a supportive environment for patients and families.
- Collaborates with the IR team to assess and plan for the patient’s physical and emotional well-being during procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- Associates degree/Allied Health
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 yrs as X-ray technologist with strong OR experience preferred
License/Certification:
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
- BLS certification
- MA Rad Tech license

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
