Position Summary/ Department Summary:

The Gail Federici-Smith and Family Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) has a vital role in the care of patients at Boston Children’s Benderson Family Heart Center. With more than 40 beds, our facility is one of the largest and most sophisticated intensive care units in the country that is dedicated solely to the care of critically ill children who have acquired and congenital heart conditions.

From individualized treatment of your child’s condition to personalized support of your entire family, our team at the CICU ensures your child and family receive the best possible care in a comforting environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the registered nurse the Clinical Assistant will help provide basic bedside nursing care for complex pediatric patients.
  • In collaboration with the registered nurse, you may be responsible for obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, and oxygen saturation measurements, while identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
  • Transporting patients, stocking of supplies and equipment as needed.
  • The Clinical Assistant role provides the opportunity to practice in a family centered environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
A HS Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 1-year CA experience, CNA certification, or Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation.
  • The ability to: exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies and relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to work on a team.

Licensure/ Certifications:

  • CNA certification (or 1-year CA experience & Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation)

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
